ListeningCheck

Participant Information, optional research contribution

Study: LC-DIN-PUBLIC-BETA-2026 · Consent wording: CONSENT-2026-10-R1 · Responsible: the ListeningCheck team, India · Contact: [email protected]

In one sentence: no name or contact details are requested; if you say yes, your test results and your answers to a few short questions are saved as a coded record (not completely anonymous) and may be used for research. If you say no, nothing is submitted.

Why we ask

ListeningCheck is a new Indian English digits-in-noise listening activity. Clinical validation is in its final step. Results contributed by volunteers help us understand how the activity performs across ages, devices, earphones, and hearing backgrounds, and support its scientific validation and improvement.

What is saved if you say yes

What is never saved

Your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, address, precise location, earphone brand or model, free-text comments, or your IP address in the research database. Records are coded: they contain no identifying details, but repeat submissions from the same browser can be linked, so they are not completely anonymous.

How the data is used and kept

Records are used for research and for developing, validating, and improving this activity and its analysis methods, and may be reported in scientific publications or shared with research partners only in aggregated or coded form. Records are stored on secure cloud infrastructure with access restricted to the study team, and retained for the duration of the research programme.

Your choices

Contributing is entirely optional and does not change your result. You can delete all records linked to your browser at any time from the Privacy page. If you prefer not to contribute but would like to know more, simply email us at [email protected].

This is a listening activity, not a medical test; it does not diagnose hearing loss. If you have any concern about your hearing, please see an audiologist or doctor.
